This Choice Is Yours

Choices. We all have them. We all make them. Every day, we make hundreds of choices. Some are so automatic, we don’t even have to think about them. Have you ever really thought about all the choices you personally make in a day? Well until recently, I never did. But since I started my journey to health, I’ve been way more conscious of the ones I make now, as opposed to the ones I made before.

April 18 was the first day of my workout on the new elliptical. I had already made several choices prior to that day in regards to my health. The choice to find a good elliptical. The choice to purchase it and commit to using it. The choice to chose Wellness over Illness.

The choices we make can either better our lives or wreck them.

I once made a choice to go to a party where I knew there would be drinking, and I also knew I shouldn’t go there. I didn’t do any drinking, but that didn’t matter. I was sexually assaulted at that party. To this day, there isn’t one day in my life since then, that I haven’t regretted that choice and wondered what my life today would be like if I hadn’t made the choice to go.

Choices matter.

In the news we see cases of things that have happened to people who made the wrong choice. Every day there is something new being reported. Sadly some of the people who made these choices end up injured or dead.

Lets not forget the people who never take responsibility for their choices. They are a whole different kind of person. The rapist who doesn’t get punished. The drunk driver of the car who injured or killed someone still has a license and no charges.

If your choices hurt others, that calls for some serious soul searching.

If your choices only hurt yourself, well... you have to be able to live with that.

In regards to health, the choices can quite literally heal you or kill you.

Would you rather make time for wellness or make time for illness?

Twenty minutes a day. My choice was and is to workout twenty minutes a day. I could just as easily spend that twenty minutes stuffing my face with junk food and sitting on my butt. But that won’t make me feel better. It won’t help me live longer. It won’t make me feel good about myself.

So here‘s my choice. I chose Wellness over Illness. I am committing to making better food choices. I made the choice to share my journey with you. This journey won’t be easy...I have made too many unhealthy bad choices in my life. Not all of them in regards to food! I made the choice to be as honest and transparent as I can on this journey. Maybe my real world struggles will encourage someone to make a choice for Wellness. That they can do this too!

No matter what’s ahead, the choice for Wellness was a “no brainer” for me.

What will your choice be?
